Bump Caps and Hard Hats, New PPE Option

Ensuring the safety of our employees is our top priority at ConGlobal. We are excited to announce that our company-issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for head protection now includes bump caps and hard hats. Here’s a quick guide for the best choice.
Hard Hat—Protection Against Object-Generated Impacts
Hard hats protect against impacts from falling objects and other equipment. They are essential for tasks with a risk of falling objects, and employees must wear them when outside equipment. Job assignments that require hard hats include, but are not limited to:
- Mechanical-power
- Chassis
- Crane shop
Bump Cap—Protection Against Person-Generated Impacts
Bump caps offer protection against minor impacts that may occur when bumping against stationary objects. They are comfortable, lightweight, and have a natural feel, making them a preferred choice for many employees. Bump caps must always be worn while operating inside and outside equipment. Job assignments that require bump caps include, but are not limited to:
- Terminal operator
- Ground crew
- Car runner
- Switchman
ConGlobal Safety and Compliance Regulations
- Employees must wear company-issued PPE and follow the manufacturer’s specifications for proper use.
- We train all employees to use, care, and store PPE properly.
- Employees must keep bump caps and hard hat inserts intact at all times.
- It is unacceptable for employees to remove the bump cap insert and place it in a non-company-issued ball cap.
- Employees must inspect PPE before use and replace it when defective or after a significant impact.
Ensuring Comfort and Compliance
We require all employees to wear the necessary PPE to ensure their safety.
We also understand that comfort is an essential factor in compliance. As such, we are excited to expand our PPE options, adding bump caps that offer protection while being more comfortable and lightweight.
Safety is a shared responsibility, and using the appropriate PPE is crucial for your protection.
